- There were once two orphan boys who had nothing in the world except each
other and their begging bowls and their four feet for walking and
tumbling.
3
- They came upon a feast. It was
Thanksgiving Day. Fat, red faces
fed upon massive turkey dripping stuffing slathered in gravy, a mountain
of mashed potatoes, a cornucopia of pies.

- The boys started juggling, begging, joking, and tumbling. One magnanimous feeder threw them some
scraps and in those scraps, a treasure…
5
- …the wishbone! They gave thanks,
ate, and when the bone was dry, each grabbed it and pulled with all his
might. SNAP! One had more and the other less.

- “Whatever did you wish for?” asked the ‘loser’, “a fairy castle with
dark dungeons and a mighty tower guarded by a dragon?”
7
- “Or a pirate island with a hidden treasure and whales you can ride!?”
8
- “Or your very own amusement park?”

- “No,” said the winner. I wished
that you get your wish.”
- “Friend,” laughed the other, “I wished the same for you.
- So when you count your blessings this Thanksgiving Day, may you find
yourself as wise and rich and gay as they!
